Biography: Simon
Ford is currently assistant editor at Mute magazine. Before that
he was Special Collections Bibliographer at the National Art Library,
Victoria and Albert Museum, London. He received his PhD in the History
of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London, in 2000
for a dissertation on avant-gardism in Britain, 1969-1981. He is a regular
contributor on matters of contemporary art to Art Monthly and Texte zur
Kunst and has written two books: Wreckers of Civilisation: The Story
of COUM Transmissions and Throbbing Gristle (1999) and The Realization
and Suppression of the Situationist International (1994). He is the
editor of Information sources in art, art history and design (2001)
and contributed the chapter on contemporary art and publishing for The
Art of the Book (2001). His short story Zyklon B Zombie appeared
in the anthology Suspect Device: A Reader in Hard-edged Fiction
(1998).
