Biography:
Sally Jane Norman is a cultural theorist and practitioner, holder of a
Doctorat d'Etat from the Institut d'Etudes Theatrales, Universite de Paris
III, who has published and lectured widely on art and technology relations,
with a particular focus on the performing arts. Director of the 1993 Louvre
International Symposium on New Images and Museology; organiser of the
1994 Traditional Techniques, New Technologies workshop at the International
Institute of Puppetry (IIM), Charleville-Mezieres; co-organiser of the
1997 Touch festival at the Frascati Theatre, Amsterdam, for STEIM
(Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music). Director of the 1998 Real
Gestures, Virtual Environments performance workshop at the IIM and
Zentrum fur Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM), Karlsruhe, and of the November
2000 Deeds & Gestures workshop at the Phenix Theatre, Valenciennes.
